In this article we want to show you an interview we conducted with the Japanese ceramist Mufu last July. Conducting an interview of this level is somewhat complicated given the secrecy that exists in Japanese culture.

Mufu is an experienced ceramist with a career in the world of bonsai of more than 20 years and 10 years dedicated to artisanal ceramics.

It has a very small production, only 50 units a year made of porcelain and hand painted, following the kutani technique. He currently has a waiting list for custom pots of more than 4 years and he has stopped painting them, now his student Kisho paints them. Despite this, the pieces that we currently have available on our website were hand-painted by Mufu just before he stopped doing so, which makes them, even more so, top-level exclusive pieces.

We can find his workshop in the Tokoname region, an area known worldwide for its pottery tradition and centuries-old kilns. Mufu uses his own oven, below we show you some images provided by Mufu himself where we can see his oven.

Their pots have been exhibited at the main bonsai conventions in the world: TAIKANN-TEN / KOKUFU-BONSAI-TEN / TROPHY.
